Indian Post Office Recruitment:

Postal System is organized by the Government of India as an Indian Posts. It is part of the Ministry of Communications of the Government of India. In India generally called as Post Office, it is the most extensively distributed postal system in the world.

Indian Post Office Recruitment:

There are 23 postal circles in the country, each circle headed by a Chief Postmaster General. Each circle is divided into regions, it is headed by Postmaster General and comprising field units called as Divisions. These divisions are again divided into subdivisions. Compared to the other circles one more circle is present to provide postal services to the Armed Forces of India. One of the highest post offices in the world is in Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh operated by India Post at a height of 14,567 ft (4,440 m).

Post Office Savings Banks opened on 1 April 1882,  throughout India except in the Bombay Presidency. In 1885, Telegraphy act was enacted. On 18 February 1911, the world’s first official airmail flight took place in India.

In April 1959, the Indian Postal Department adopted the motto “Service before help”  it improved its logo in September 2008. India was the first country to adopt the expedient of overprinting “Service” on postage stamps and “Service Postage” on revenue stamps in 1866. In the Commonwealth, by issuing airmail stamps India is the first country.

On 1st October 1854 first, all India stamps were issued. On 21 November 1947 independent India issued the first new stamp. India has printed stamps and postal stationeries for other countries.

On 15 August 1972, the Postal Index Number (PIN) is a six-digit postal code introduced. There are nine postal zones in the country, the first eight are geographical regions, and the ninth is reserved for the Army Postal Service (APS). In that PIN the first digit indicates zone, the first two digits indicate sub-zone, first three digits indicate a sorting district, last three digits indicate the delivery post office.

The Indian Posts project plan is to improve the post offices in rural and urban areas.
